Organization

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Scoop Ice Cream Festival’s mission is to celebrate the joy of ice cream to inspire social change. Through our events and initiatives, we raise funds to support local nonprofits serving under-resourced communities in San Diego and the Coachella Valley.

Daniel Szpak

Driven by a lifetime passion for ice cream, Southern California resident Daniel Szpak co-founded Hammond’s Gourmet Ice Cream in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego in 2014. Daniel eventually sold his share in the company, but his passion for ice cream continued. In 2019, he turned that passion into purpose (and also more ice cream) by creating the first of its kind ice cream festival, Scoop San Diego, to celebrate people’s shared love of ice cream as a catalyst for social connection and human compassion.

Inspired to make a difference, Daniel is fulfilling his dream of bringing the best local ice cream and gelato shops together for Southern California’s original and only ice cream festivals.
